My Cooperating teacher at NEUST
Laboratory High School is Prof. Severino C. Fortunato. He is a Physics teacher
and also principal. Before teaching, he made a lesson plan based on the
material he was going to teach.

Preparing Lessons and Materials
There are two types of lesson plans,
detailed lesson plans, and semi-detailed lesson plans. The difference between
the two is in the detail lesson plan the teacher writes down all activities
that will be going to do including mentioning the possible response from
students. Some of the materials they have to prepare are includes: the most
important are lesson plans, learning media such as powerpoint, and guidebooks.
The teacher teaches according to the lesson plan he has made. Starting from
greeting until giving assignments.

Teaching in Class
The first time is the preliminary activity. In this part, the
teacher conducts activities such as greeting, asks students to prepare them
selves, prepares textbooks, asks a class leader to lead prayers, check
attendance and the last gave motivation on topics to be discussed to make
students more enthusiastic with the lessons. For example, the teacher will show
some pictures or videos about the topic and ask students to respond to the picture/video.
Sometimes, the teacher also gave a review of the topics they have learned at
the previous meeting.
Then the teacher will start from the
lesson proper step. In this part, the teacher presents the topic of the lesson.
After that, the teacher asked students to discuss and gave some questions about
the topic. Actually, after the lesson proper step there are an application
step, but during my observation, I did not see my mentor teacher doing the
application part. So he directly continue to the generalization part. At this
part, the teacher made a review of the topic they had learned today. The
teacher asks several questions and then continue to the next step, Evaluation.
At this step, the teacher gives a short quiz to check the students level of understanding
of this topic. The last step is giving assignments. The teacher gives
assignments to students based on the material discussed today or material that
will be discussed in the next meeting. The class ends with a greeting from
students, they said see you again sir Fortunato.
4.
Measurement and Evaluation
The teacher gives an evaluation after
finished the discussion of a chapter. The evaluation given by my teaching
mentor is in the form of multiple choices or sometimes also in the form of
problem-solving. The teacher also gives a short quiz when finished discussing a
topic. The teacher also gives assignments to students. Sometimes students are
told to draw and sometimes students are asked to learn the next material.
