Day 8. Monday, January 21, 2019.
The flag ceremony every Monday always starts our activities every
week. Before going to NEUST Laboratory high school we attended the flag
ceremony first. The ceremony always starts at 7 a.m. We also sang the
Phillipinas Kong Mahal song that Sir Chris taught us yesterday.
We went to school at 7:30 a.m. Today I have an observation schedule
in 7th grade Dalton and 7th grade Newton. Sir Boyet asked me to sat on the back
seat so that I could observe the class as a whole. Sir Boyet gave the same
treatment in both of these classes. A greeting is the first time Sir Boyet did
when he entered the class. After that sir Boyet discussed the questions about
velocity and acceleration which had been completed by students at the last
meeting. After finished discuss these questions, sir Boyet continue on to the
next material, which is about Motion of Falling Objects. Sir Boyet gave several
questions as brainstorming and then the students responded with enthusiasm.
Students here are very active especially students in 7th-grade Newton.
Sir Boyet explained each formula very detail, he also made
illustrated images of the formula to make students more understandable. This
material about Motion of Falling Object cannot be completed immediately today,
so we will still discuss this material next meeting.
After finished with observations we went back to the hostel. We
had lunch and take a break. The journalistic team from campus came again to
interview us. They asked several questions about this sea teacher program.
After the interview, we were asked by Sir Chris to practice singing Leron-Leron
Sinta songs with the acoustic group from campus. We ended the activity when the
Maghrib prayer arrived.
Day 9. Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
Tuesday. Still with the same activities, observation, and teaching
assists. Today we continue the material that we have not finished discussing in
the last meeting about Motion of Falling Object. Sir Boyet gave many examples
of questions about this material. He has written the questions on the board and
then answers while explained it to students. I saw many students who were not
paying attention, then I asked one of the students who was sitting in the back
seat. She said that she did not understand what Sir Boyet explained, because as
long as I observed, he did not pay attention. Then, I helped her to understand
the questions being discussed.
From the first time I made observations, sir Boyet taught using
the discourse method. This made the students less active and enthusiastic in
the lesson because they are only told to listen and pay attention. But besides
that, sir Boyet explained the material and examples of questions with great
detail. At the end of the lesson, sir Boyet reviewed some formulas that have
been explained and told that in the next meeting he would give a quiz as an
evaluation of this chapter.
Finished doing the observation I went to the canteen with my
buddy. I always finish first because my class is the earliest and only 2 hours
every day. I waited for my friends while trying some of the food sold in the
canteen. One of them I tried Arroz caldo, which is porridge mixed with chicken
and some ingredients. This is my first time tried Arroz caldo and it turns out
it tastes very delicious.
Day 10. Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
As sir Boyet said yesterday, today Sir Boyet will give a quiz as
an evaluation of the chapter that has been explained. Sir Boyet gave students 1
hour to solve questions consisting of 7 numbers, 5 numbers in the form of
multiple choices and 2 questions in the form of problem-solving. 7th-grade
Newton did the same thing, they did the quiz as was done by 7th grade Dalton.
After finishing, I followed Sir Boyet to his room, the principal's
room. There we discussed many things starting from the lesson plan that I would
use to teach on Monday, to discuss about the questions in the quiz that were
given during the evaluation. Finished discussing I had lunch with my friends in
the canteen. After lunch, we go back to the hostel.
At 5 p.m. we were asked by sir Chris to learn one of the
traditional Filipino dances, the name is Karinyosa. We were trained by NEUST
Folkaric Danza. They want us to dance this traditional dance at the farewell
party later.
Day 11. Thursday, January 24, 2019.
Still with the same activities, observation and teaching assists.
First, we started from 7th grade Dalton at 7:30 a.m. Today we continue a new
chapter which is about How can technology ensure safety and security. Before
starting this new material, sir Boyet discussed the answers of the quiz that we
had conducted in the last meeting while reviewing the material that had been
taught.
In this chapter, sir Boyet used powerpoint media. He often
displayed pictures as examples of the material described. The lesson ended by
giving assignments to students. Students are asked to draw signs of security
and safety. The same thing was done in 7th grade Newton.
After we finished, I followed Sir Boyet to his room. I showed the
lesson plan I had made. He gave me some suggestions, then I fixed it.
Day 12.
Friday, January 25, 2019.
Friday is a free day. Today we don't go to school because our
schedule is only Monday to Thursday. We will go to Hunter Valley Plantation and
Resort. We left accompanied by sir Marlon, sir Chris, ma'am Sheena, and ma'am
Leah. Before arriving at the resort we pass the American Memorial Cabanatuan.
We stopped there to take some pictures.
Then, we continued our journey to the resort. Actually, we went
there to swim, but because there's no water in the pool, we just walked around
the resort while taking pictures.
After arriving at the hostel we change our clothes and we decided
to go to SM mall with ma'am Sheena. We had coffee there, then we took a walk
around to buy some items. Today's trip ends with a siomay meal bought by ma'am
Sheena.
Day 13. Saturday, January 26, 2019.
Ma'am Angelica Cortez, the dean of College Education invited us to
go to her house. Ma'am Ange house is not far from Sumacab hostel. Sometimes we
pass it when we are going to school. We went to ma'am Ange's house using a
tricycle. When he arrived there ma'am Ange served us various kinds of snacks
such as lumpia and turon.
From the ma'am Ange's house, we walked to the night market. We try
other traditional Filipino foods, named bibingka. Foods made from flour and
eggs with grated coconut. There, we also met NEUST Folkaric Danza, the group
that taught us the karinyosa dance.
Day 14. Tuesday, January 27, 2019.
Today we have no activities. We just stay at the hostel,
finishing my lesson plans, wash clothes, and cook. But today we met our new
friends from Indonesia. They will stay at the upstairs. They are Abdi and
Tommy, students who take part in the sea t-vet program. We talk and share
stories with them.
